Up to $250,000 in Government Grant funding to support innovation commercialisation

The Western Australian Government is inviting eligible innovative SME’s and startups to apply for up to $250,000 in competitive grant funding on a co-contribution basis.

Commercialisation Bridge Grant (CBG) funding aims to assist businesses to:

  • Strengthen their commercialised product or service to support building a sustainable, profitable and scalable business

  • Build a globally-focussed, innovative business based in WA

  • Create jobs, develop new industries and assist in the diversification of the WA economy

Grants of between 450,000 and up to $250,000 are available with a minimum matching funding requirement of between 25% and 35% (see below). Evidence of cash co-contribution will be rquired before a grant funding agreement can be entered into.

Funding co-contribution requirement:

  • For applicants headquartered in regional WA: 25%

  • For First Nations founded business: 25%

  • For female founded businesses: 25%

  • For all remaining applicants: 35%

Applicant Eligibility:

  • Your business is registered in WA and holds a current ABN and/or ACN

  • You are developing a scalable, innovative project in Western Australia and your commercialised innovation is in post revenue stage

  • Your business will continue to be based in Western Australia for the next three years

  • Your business has a trading history of six months or more and has not previously raised significant capital

Eligible Expenditure / Activity: Grant funding may be spend on expenses related to the procurement of support services or expertises in the following four categories:

  1. Research and Development e.g. Compliance testing, product testing and validation, laboratory verification, certification and engineering design work

  2. Team Readiness e.g. Hiring C-suite personnel, adding to the team to fill gaps and experience, developing an advisory board, access to an entrepreneur in residence

  3. Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property e.g. Protection of intellectual property, legal advice, licensing

  4. Commercialisation Support Services e.g. Innovation management and consulting, commercialisation strategies, commercialisation feasibility studies, financial support (R&D tax incentive advice, capital raising strategies)

Applications must be submitted by Friday 24 October 2025 at 4:00PM (AWST).
