Grants up to $5 million to kickstart new clean and renewable energy projects

The West Australian government is inviting eligible applicants to apply for up to $5 million in competitive grant funding, on a co-contribution basis.

The funding is aimed at supporting major clean energy and renewable energy projects in areas of strategic priority including:

  • Critical minerals projects that involve refining and processing of critical minerals (midstream activities) at TRL 6 or above.

  • Green iron and steel projects demonstrating meaningful reduction in emissions and add value to domestic iron ore production e.g. pilot and demonstration projects at TRL 4 or above.

  • Renewable hydrogen projects that involve production of renewable hydrogen, use of hydrogen, transport and/or export of hydrogen or amonnia, wiht projecst at TRL 4 or above considered.

  • Carbon capture and storage projects that involve geological storage technologies including capture technology, transport, utilisation technology and/or storage with projects at TRL 5 or above considered.

Eligible Applicants must:

  • Be registered (or eligible to register) for an Australian Business Number (ABN) - this may include foreign owned business)

  • Be a legal entity with a proven trading history for hte past three financial years

  • Demonstrate alignment with one or more of the Diversify WA: 2024 Update priority sectors AND the areas of strategic priority listed above

  • Submit a business plan and evidence of management, technical and financial capability

  • Submit all requested supporting documentation (list here)

Applications must be submitted by 5PM (AWST) on November 4, 2025.
